The Most Beat-Up City in the World

I guess this is my first post?!
I love many things... So I guess I'll start this thing with one of my favorite hobbies... TRAVEL!
Last summer, I visited (read: wreaked havoc) on France, Switzerland and Italy for 2 weeks.
One of my least favorite destinations was Venezia, Italia! I was absorbed with many things that day, and overlooked the actual part of town where people live. I was left with relics and tourist attractions and sweltering heat and smelly canals and expensive shirts and stuff. Ehhh...
I feel really bad for Venice. It's going to turn into a museum one day..it sort of already is. Read any news articles about it and you'll find plenty of what I mean. Venice's peak days existed many centuries ago as the port city of the world! Today it's impotence is past. Venice is as commandeering as a sideshow attraction can be, but I don't think it's enough for it to maintain its dignity. Visit Venice and you'll see. Poor, poor Venice. If I ever get any followers, I want your opinions of the city in my comments! I might just have a conversation with myself in comments though. I don't need you!! :)
